This season we’ll have a weekly segment called “The Big One” where we feature a game with post-game articles and/or analysis including video from our friends at Coon Rapids Sports on YouTube. Our next “Big One” of the 2010 season will be Champlin Park @ Blaine on Friday, September 17th (7:00pm).

Both teams enter this game undefeated at 2-0 and this will be each others first real test of the season. Blaine has the advantage being at home but Champlin Park has a very good “road neutralizer” in running back Michael Sales (So). Sales has carried Champlin Park to two fairly easy wins and he’s going to need to be a workhorse tonight if Champlin Park hopes to win the game.

Quarterback Eric Kline (Sr) leads a potent Bengal offense that is equipped with a lot of skill at the running back and wide receiver positions. Marcel Deveaux (Sr) is the deep threat in a very solid wide receiving corps for Blaine that has helped Kline put up staggering numbers over the first two weeks. Kline’s strength though are his legs. He is Blaine’s leading rusher and the Rebels must keep him in the pocket.

Over the past several years this has evolved into one of the bigger rivalries in the Northwest Suburban Conference. It’s early in the season but this should be a good measuring stick for both teams with the winner jumping ahead of the pack as the favorite to win the Conference.

Here are the other A-B-C games this week:
