Here’s what I “think” after the third week of the 2010 football season…

  • Anoka is bad.  I thought they might be decent this season after their opening game against Blaine but the wheels have come completely off offensively.  It might be a long season for them.
  • Andover doesn’t have the offensive firepower around quarterback Tyler Finnes that they had a season ago but Finnes is still pretty good.  I’m not sure they can win the conference but he will keep them in competition to the end.
  • Blaine showed their weaknesses last week against Champlin Park but had a big enough cushion to hold on for the victory.  The Bengals struggle defending the pass and if you can keep Kline in the pocket you can slow their offense down.  I still think they are the team to beat in the conference.
  • Coon Rapids is 3-0.  I don’t remember the last time they started a season that way.  Sure they’ve played the weaker teams in the conference but they still won the games.  Something they didn’t always do last season (i.e. Park Center).  Antonio Ford returned and combined with Mo Ward to rush for almost 200 yards.  They get Champlin Park this week and will certainly go into that game as the underdog.  If they can run the ball effectively and stay close going into the fourth quarter they might just pull off the upset.
