This season we’ll have a weekly segment called “The Big One” where we feature a game with post-game articles and/or analysis including video from our friends at Coon Rapids Sports on YouTube.  Our next “Big One” of the 2010 season will be Osseo @ Andover on Wednesday, October 20th (7:00pm).

Osseo (6-1) is undefeated in the Northwest Suburban Conference this season.  Their only loss was to non-conference opponent Minnetonka in the second week of the season.  But how good are they?  They have only played one team (Coon Rapids) this season that currently has a winning record.  They got shutout on the road at Minnetonka (3-4), pulled away late against a Champlin Park (3-4)  team competing without their best player – Michael Sales (So), and squeaked by a Coon Rapids (4-3) team that was two weeks removed from a 45-14 blowout at  Blaine – the Conference’s other unbeaten team.

There is a lot on the line in this game for Andover (5-2).  A win clinches the 2nd seed in the Section 7AAAAA Playoffs and gives them two home games.  A loss, which would be their third in a row, would open the door for Coon Rapids to capture the 2nd seed should they win at home against Maple Grove.  Andover has lost themselves offensively.  They don’t have a running game and they barely have a passing game.  Quarterback Tyler Finnes (Sr) has been forced to be everything for the Huskies and that’s a lot to ask of a young player.

Can Osseo close out the regular season with a win and finish unbeaten in the conference?  Will Andover find some help for Finnes offensively and gain some positive momentum heading into the playoffs?  We’ll find out on Wednesday!

Other A-B-C games this week:

* Park Center @ Anoka
* (3) Blaine @ Robbinsdale Armstrong
* Maple Grove @ Coon Rapids
